Next Gig - Sunday 5th September 2010 at HARTLEPOOL BELLE VUE CLUB-VERTIGO

The original Hazard was a duo formed when Paul, who was the guitarist with The Extras & Ken the bass player in the band found themselves out of work (the band split).Fed up of bickering, unreliable musos,(present company was accepted) they decided to become a duo, something entirely new and different from the band scene they had always been part of.Both well known and well respected musicians in the business, they launched Hazard in early`92 using sequencers instead of the traditional `backing tapes` for their big drum sounds and playing live bass and guitar over the top.The result was a massive`band`sound, capable of filling bigger venues than duo`s would normally play.

For the next 11 years the lads played all over the world and back making their living and building their solid reputation. They did some memorable gigs, working with such names as The Drifters,The Foundations,Chris Rea,Jimmy Nail and............Ken Dodd!!!! And they did some gigs they`d rather forget...........remember Barmston on those October nights lads? One drunk man and a dog....say no more eh? On the whole though, the lads have enjoyed Hazard immensely!Everything changed however, when in 2003,the need came up for the lads to work as a trio.In the past Hazard had recruited other singers for jobs that required a three piece, with the likes of Paula Best and Janie Mackenzie fronting the band, but this particular gig wanted a male singer. So the lads brought in good friend Stewart Summerson,a talented young keyboard player from their area .A couple of run throughs in Pauls studio and they gigged.Onstage the chemistry was great giving Paul and Ken the idea to make the arrangement more permanent. The Hazard Trio was born and in 2004 they were awarded the trophy for `Trio Of The Year`,and their reputation went from strength to strength.

For the previous 11 years,Hazard had staged their own Xmas Party in Spennymoor,a night which has become hugely popular with fans from all over the North East.At the 2005 party the lads decided to give their fans something different and invited along one of their best mates,percussionist/keyboard player/singer/baldy guy,Paul Dix,who was with them in The Extras and a veteran of the band scene! The result was a blistering set from the four piece which not only felt good but had the punters claiming this was the best show yet! Deciding to work the four piece, but under the name of Paul Lyndon`s Vertigo as it was to be a different show to Hazard. The name came from Griff`s equity name of Paul Lyndon, which is his middle name and came in handy a year later when a U2 tribute band began gigging around the area under the name Vertigo. It caused a little confusion a couple of times but clients soon realised the difference in the two bands and Paul Lyndon`s Vertigo soon became easily identifiable. The lads launched the show with  management by Beverley Artistes,in March `05 and have never looked back with it.The show became as popular as the Hazard show, winning the award for Best Band in 2007.

A sad year followed in 2008 when founding member and bass player Ken lost his wife suddenly and six months later lost his own battle with life. The lads were devastated and the band came off the road to get their thoughts together.A painful time ensued during which, after discussions with Ken`s family and friends,Griff decided to carry on with both shows under the same names, just as Ken would have done had he been in the same situation.Sadly Stu made the decision to depart owing to the pressure and prospects of his other job.there were no hard feelings and the lads all remain mates.
The decision was made for Paul Dix to move from percussion ,back to his first instrument of keyboards, bringing him to the front of the stage where the showmanship in him really shines and the hard task of auditioning drummers and replacing Ken`s amazing bass playing began. After many auditions and some great playing not to mention 3 months of hard work rehearsing and putting together a new show, the new line up hit the road working with Beverley Artistes and also with the Dixon Agency.
Glenn Stephens,a veteran of the band scene and all round great bloke took up the drummers throne and Jason Roberts,a fantastic bassist from many bands with which the lads had worked with over the years, took over bass duties.
After 18 months of good craic and building a good solid reputation in South Yorkshire, another change was afoot.Glenn left to work on his own project with Shelley Stevens.Cue more drummer auditions with some really tasty players stepping up to the mark. The job was given to John Lambert,a local lad from Bishop Auckland who has a great pedigree having worked for years with Juke Box Jive a successful rock and roll band.John`s sense of humour and superb playing made him fit right in with the lads from the beginning.

The line up is as strong as ever and the camaraderie in the band is plain to see when they are performing. With superp four part harmonies used with the latest technology in sound, and some brilliant musicianship from the lads, both Hazard and Paul Lyndon`s Vertigo are, and will continue to be among the best shows you will ever see.
